Ruakaka is a beach settlement south of Whangarei with white sand and clear waters within the wide expanse of Bream Bay. At the Northern end of the beach is Marsden Point which is the site of New Zealand's only oil refinery which operates around the clock. The refinery is an amazing site at night and marks the entrance to Whangarei harbour.
