Diamond Harbour Volunteer Fire Brigade was formed in 1955 and celebrated its 50th Jubilee in November 2005. The Brigade has an establishment of 20 Fire-fighters and attends fire and medical calls. The area covered by the Brigade is from Gebbies Pass in the West to Pigeon Bay in the East.
Diamond Harbour Volunteer Fire Brigade is a First Response Medical unit.
Diamond Harbour is situated on Banks Peninsula, approximately 40 minutes from Christchurch on the South side of Lyttelton Harbour. The area is made up of many picturesque and beautiful bays.
Many of the residents work in Christchurch and live in Diamond Harbour for the lifestyle that it offers which includes water sports, golf course, tennis courts, numerous walk ways and four beaches. With the abolishment of the Banks Peninsula District Council in 2006 Diamond Harbour become a suburb of Christchurch.
