The major hazards are the school, hotel, backpackers, log cabins, SH1 and the garage/service centre.

The Mangaweka Brigade backs up Hunterville in the South, Rangiwahia in the East and Taihape to the North.

Mangaweka is a small community situated between Taihape and Hunterville with a population of approximately 200 people. The town is mainly residential with a small gathering of heritage type buildings, housing, museum and curio shops.
