The board of the NZ Fire Service Commission is appointed by the Minister of Internal Affairs. Terms of appointment are usually for three years and members are eligible for reappointment.
The current members of the board are, from left:
Angela Hauk-Willis
First appointed in July 2011. Angela has held several senior management positions, most recently Deputy Secretary of the Treasury. She is currently a self-employed consultant specialising in change management. Angela is also on the Board of the IPCA and a lay member of the Health Practitioners and NZICA Disciplinary Tribunals.
Vicki Caisley
First appointed December 2010. Vicki is a self-employed contractor based in Auckland with extensive experience in human resource management in large public and private sector organisations.
Dave McFarlane
First appointed October 2009. Dave is a former President of the United Fire Brigades' Association and a long time member of the Renwick Volunteer Fire Brigade and Chief Fire Officer of the fire district. He has a background in NZ Defence Force fire services, building construction and management of major capital and operating projects.
Rt Hon Wyatt Creech (Chairperson)
First appointed October 2009. A former deputy Prime Minister and National Party MP, he is currently a director of NZ Windfarms Ltd and comes from an economic and business background.
Bob Francis
First appointed August 2006. Bob is a former long-time Mayor of Masterton District Council and has a background in the plumbing and sheet metal industries. He is a member of the International panel responsible for selecting rugby referees. Current roles include Chair of the Wairarapa DHB.
