Renting out your home

You are more likely to have a fire when someone new is staying in your home. If you are renting out your home to holiday-makers, please do some simple checks:

  • Do you have working smoke alarms?
You should have smoke alarms installed in bedrooms, living rooms and hallways. We recommend long-life photoelectric alarms (the battery doesn't have to be replaced for 10 years).

  • Have you tested your smoke alarms?

  • Do you have a fire extinguisher?

  • Is your house number clear to read so that emergency services can find your home easily?
