Flood or natural disaster

If your property has flooded, contact your local council and/or insurance company to have your house inspected and damaged assessed.

Ask your council for advice on cleaning up debris safely.

If your home was damaged by a fire caused by a natural disaster and you had a valid fire insurance policy, you may be eligible for insurance from the Earthquake Commission. You must contact EQC within 30 days. Freephone 0800 652 333 or visit www.eqc.govt.nz
