The Nelson City Council this morning towed a car from Rocks Rd, after police and firefighters received a late-night callout to a burning vehicle that was holding up traffic.
Acting Sergeant Wade Jennings of Nelson police said emergency services were called to the car about 12.30am today, and found that it had been rolled on to its roof and set alight.
The Nelson Fire Service was called to put out the fire. The car was left on the side of the road overnight. It was towed away with the help of the council about 8.30am today.
Mr Jennings said no arrests had been made in relation to the car fire and police believed that the vehicle had been abandoned on Rocks Rd about a week ago.
