Crash Victim's Family thank Firefighters with morning tea

September 2, 2008

Firefighters from Greerton and Tauranga were treated to morning tea by recovered crash victim Meghan Bowker and her family yesterday.
Meghan, 24, was seriously injured in a crash on State Highway 29 near Tauriko a month ago.
She was in a drug-induced coma for nearly three days and in hospital for two weeks with severe internal injuries.
Her mother, Debi Bowker, said firefighters often didn't get to see the people they saved and the family wanted to show their gratitude.
Senior Station Officer Phil Price, who helped get Meghan out of the wreckage, said it was much appreciated.
'We often put a person in an ambulance and that's the last we ever hear of it,' he said.
