Fire at McDonald's Restaurant disrupts Capital

Central Wellington streets were cordoned off Thursday morning after a small fire in the kitchen of a McDonald's restaurant.

Fire crews were rushed to the scene as the restaurant was part of a BP service station.

Central fire communications shift manager Murray Dunbar told NZPA the blaze, which started about 8.15am, was restricted to an extraction system in the kitchen, but was now extinguished.

Cable Street and Wakefield Street had been cordoned off during the incident.
