This
report completes the research on relationships on severe fire seasons and
climatic factors experienced in four regions of New Zealand. It relates extreme
daily severity ratings (DSR) and daily weather types for the regions of
Auckland West/Waikato, North Canterbury, McKenzie Basin and Central
Otago/Inland Southland. It builds on knowledge gained through several years’
worth of research, linking fire risk to climate indicators, including a spatial
analysis of 15 fire regions across New Zealand.
