ROCHELLE MARTIN

After I suffered a rugby injury, I had to think long and hard about my future career options. My coach, at the time, was in the Fire Service and he encouraged me to apply. Joining up was certainly one of the best decisions I’ve made. Like rugby, I’m working in a team environment where everyone assists each other for the right result. Times have changed and, as a woman, I have never experienced any barriers to my ability to do the job. There’s a fantastic range of different things to do and with the various incidents I attend, no two days are the same – and that’s a good thing.
